COMPARISON OF TWO SUPRAGLOTTIC AIRWAY DEVICES IN MAINTAINING AIRWAY FOR SHORT SURGERIES

چکیده

Objective: To find the better supraglottic airway device in terms of advantages, and complications, short surgeries following anesthesia paralysis.
 Study Design: Quasi-experimental study
Place Duration Study: Combined Military Hospital Okara Armed Forces Institute Urology, Rawalpindi Pakistan, from July 2018 to 2020.
Methodology: Prospectively, 130 American Society Anesthesiologist (ASA) 1, 2, 3 patients, aged 15-60 years, scheduled for urology or gynecological procedure were randomly divided into Group LMA (Group L, n=65) i-gel group G, n=65). Laryngeal mask inserted respective groups after induction muscle paralysis. The parameters compared were: simplicity insertion, time taken insertion attempts, exchanged, complications rate each device. data thus obtained was analyzed with SPSS-16.
 Results: similar gender distribution 68 (52%) vs. 62(47%) surgery type 60 (urology 46.2%) gynecology 70 (53.8%). successful at first attempt (38.4% 40.7%) both devices. changed 3.07% patient’s 6.92% complication not substantially different either (i-gel 5.3% 6%). less (17.62 sec ± 6.41 vs.22.06 ±7.92) which statistically significant p≤0.05.
Conclusion: are two devices maintaining airways indications emergency lifesaving routine surgical procedures but their use situations like difficult.......

Airway Management - Supraglottic Airway Devices

Cursul Na]ional de Ghiduri [i Protocoale în ATI As anesthesiologists we spend a respectable part of our career maintaining the airway. Theoretically, every anesthesiologist should be familiar with, and well practiced in a variety of the airway techniques that are available, so that when an airway problem occurs, it can be managed with a solid armamentarium of information and experience. However...

Supraglottic airway devices.

Supraglottic airway devices are developed with increasing frequency following the overwhelming success of the laryngeal mask airway (LMA). Currently, the LMA, the ProSeal laryngeal mask airway (PLMA), the laryngeal tube (LT), the laryngeal tube with integrated suctioning tube (LTS) and the oesophageal tracheal combitube (OTC) are the best evaluated and most widespread devices. Both the LMA and ...

Supraglottic airway devices.

Supraglottic airway devices (SADs) are used to keep the upper airway open to provide unobstructed ventilation. Early (first-generation) SADs rapidly replaced endotracheal intubation and face masks in > 40% of general anesthesia cases due to their versatility and ease of use. Second-generation devices have further improved efficacy and utility by incorporating design changes. Individual second-g...

Comparison of Five 2nd-Generation Supraglottic Airway Devices for Airway Management Performed by Novice Military Operators

OBJECTIVES Five different second-generation supraglottic airway devices, ProSeal LMA, Supreme LMA, i-gel, SLIPA, and Laryngeal Tube Suction-D, were studied. Operators were inexperienced users with a military background, combat lifesavers, nurses, and physicians. METHODS This was a prospective, randomized, single-blinded study. Devices were inserted in the operating room in low light condition...

Supraglottic airway devices in the ambulatory setting.

Supraglottic airway devices (SGAs) offer certain advantages over endotracheal intubation, making them particularly well suited for the specific demands of outpatient anesthesia. Patients may tolerate the placement and maintenance of an SGA at a lower dose of anesthetic than that needed for an endotracheal tube; neuromuscular blocking agents are rarely necessary for airway management with an SGA...
